The Director of the Stanford Business School Fund manages and assesses the school’s annual fundraising programs and activities. The position oversees the class-based reunion giving program, leadership giving and stewardship, direct mail and e-mail solicitations, a student calling program, class agent efforts, a young alumni effort, student education and a graduating class gift program.
The position reports to the Associate Dean for Development and oversees eight fundraisers and support staff.
* Supervise the Business School Fund fundraising staff and data manager, and indirectly
manage the administrative staff.
* Meet regularly with direct reports to evaluate individual activities and strategies and work with them to make adjustments as needed to meet goals. Oversee the recruitment, management, development and retention of Business School Fund staff.
* Develop performance standards for staff and oversee systems to track and assess progress toward goals. In collaboration and consultation with Associate Dean, oversee the development of annual program plans designed to increase annual unrestricted support for school.
* Manage a portfolio of individual prospects with capacity to make high-end annual and major gifts at leadership levels. Set a strong leadership example for other annual fundraisers by maintaining an active schedule of personal contacts and activities for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of these prospects.
* Provide strategic guidance and oversee the Reunion Giving Program. Directly supervise Associate and Assistant Directors with responsibility for class based giving programs to help ensure they meet key goals and objectives. In consultation with Associate Dean, work to ensure a strong collaborative approach around reunions by fostering open communication and collaboration with Major Gift Officers and members of the Business School Alumni Association staff.
* In collaboration and consultation with Associate Dean, oversee and provide strategic guidance for the school's leadership giving program which seeks to renew and recruit high-end annual donors to the Business School Fund through personal solicitation, volunteer efforts, stewardship, and direct appeals programs. Work with the Associate Director responsible for managing this program to develop and assess strategies for maximizing leadership giving.
* Independently guide the broad-based solicitation activities of the direct appeal program. Make sure that the Business School Fund is effectively soliciting its entire prospect population through direct mail, e-mail, and student calling in a way that maximizes participation and
complements and supports the fund's personal solicitation efforts.
* Oversee the Business School Fund's student and young alumni development program and directly supervise the Associate Director responsible for managing this program, providing strategic guidance and support as needed.
* Monitor, analyze and report on overall results to internal and external constituencies. Prepare and deliver reports for various boards and volunteer groups as needed.
* Play a key role in the oversight and enhancement of volunteer involvement in annual fundraising efforts, with a particular emphasis on staffing and management of
the Business School Fund Council.
* Collaborate with other colleagues in GSB Development to align program goals with the overall fundraising objectives and priorities for the school. Foster a collaborative working environment through training and personal example.
* Assume or delegate responsibility for special annual fundraising projects as needed.
* Perform related duties as needed.
