The Haas School of Business is the second oldest business school in the United States and one of the largest professional schools on the UC Berkeley campus, comprised of 85 ladder-track faculty and approximately 135 professional or visiting faculty. The school employs more than 250 staff and serves over 2,200 students. The School offers six degree programs – an upper division major, three MBA programs targeted to differing student populations, Masters in Financial Engineering and the Ph.D. in Business Administration. Additionally, the School operates a non-degree program for business executives, and several departments & centers.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Leadership Giving, the Development Director, Major Gifts identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift-level prospective donors (defined as individuals capable of contributing $100,000 or more) and secures campaign-level support to help the school achieve its strategic plan. The position does not supervise other staff.
* Maintain a complex portfolio of donor prospects for a predefined region. Collaborate with Haas Development
and University Relations colleagues to strategize and implement most effective approach to all high-level prospects.
* Design and implement specialized activities such as leadership level dinners and other programs as assigned by the Executive Director.
* Develop, create, write, implement, and evaluate individualized plans and strategies for cultivation and solicitation of individual prospects.
* Present formal fundraising proposals to major donors and prospects or prepare senior management to present proposals.
* Recruit, train, and support key volunteers who assist in advancement efforts.
* Serve as a resource to the school community, interacting with prospects, donors, administration, faculty, staff, students, and outside
professionals to provide information, advice, and counsel regarding donors and prospects. May serve as an expert or lead development professional in a specific academic discipline.
* Evaluate programs using financial feasibility studies and market research, including planning and evaluating annual solicitation programs and
making recommendations for improvements.
* Ensure that predetermined fundraising goals are met.
* Exceptional skills in organization, interpersonal communication, and analytical
thinking
* Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training, with preference for a graduate level degree in a related area
* Minimum of five years' experience in a lead development role, preferably with experience in the area of individual prospects and donors in an academic
setting
* Advanced analytical, critical thinking, problem recognition/avoidance/resolution
skills
* Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations and public relations concepts, principles, procedures and
techniques
* Working knowledge of the campus and school, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and
infrastructure
* Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, ethical standards, and best
practices
* Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the campus and with external
constituencies
* Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Ability and willingness to periodically work during evenings and weekends and to travel, primarily, but not exclusively within the Bay
